WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark while also bringing attention and awareness to an issue that effects all segments of the society; and 

WHEREAS, the Mother’s Day Festival will enrich our community by celebrating one of the most emotional and meaningful traditions we share as families and will feature live music and serenades, a complimentary food fair, children’s activities, and raffles with special gifts dedicated to honoring the extraordinary mothers in our community; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Mother’s Day Festival, to be held at North 5^th Street, from Bloomfield Avenue to Abington Avenue, Newark, Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:30 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Mother’s Day Festival, being held at North 5^th Street from Bloomfield Avenue to Abington Avenue, Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($100.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

STATEMENT

This resolution supports and declares sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Mother’s Day Festival, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($100.00), for an event to be held on North 5^th Street, (North Ward), on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:30 A.M. until 7:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Luis A. Quintana, at-Large.
