WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, the late Police Lieutenant Luis Osorio was a dedicated member of the City of Newark’s Department of Public Safety, Division of Police, who proudly served the residents of Newark for many years; and
WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career, Lieutenant Luis Osorio became a fixture in his beloved community ensuring the safety and welfare of all residents. His “can-do” attitude, commitment, and selfless service to the Newark community is a testament to the countless number of lives he touched with his unbounded generosity, compassion, and kindness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of 7th Avenue and North 5th Street as “Police Lt. Luis Osorio Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain 7th Avenue and North 5th Street, in their entirety.

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of 7th Avenue and North 5th Street as “Police Lt. Luis Osorio Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
