AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND SUPPLEMENT, TITLE XXIII, TRAFFIC, CHAPTER 7, PARKING METER REGULATIONS, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, TO AMEND 23:7-3.3, PARKING LIMITED TO TWO (2) HOURS 9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M., EXCEPT SUNDAY, BY ADDING TWO (2) ADDITIONAL PARKING LOCATIONS ALONG PORTIONS OF LITTLETON AVENUE AND WEST MARKET STREET.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals and the Newark Parking Authority desires to restrict parking to two (2) hours along portions of Littleton Avenue and West Market Street; and
WHEREAS, the two (2) hour parking restriction from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday will improve traffic flow and encourage parking space turnover for business, customers and visitors in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. Title XXIII, Traffic, Chapter 7, Parking Meter Regulations, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, (2000) as amended and supplemented, to amend 23:7-3.3, Parking Limited to two (2) hours 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., except Sunday, by adding the following additional locations:
§ 23:7-3.3:
g. Littleton Avenue, between West Market Street and 11th Avenue
East side, 360 feet from West Market Street to West Market Street,
h. West Market Street, between Littleton Avenue and Bergen Street
South side, 345 feet from Littleton Avenue to Littleton Avenue,
Section 2. The City Clerk shall forward a copy of this adopted Ordinance to the Parking Authority of the City of Newark to carry out all its responsibilities for metered parking, pursuant to the Inter-local Agreement between the City of Newark and the Parking Authority of the City of Newark, adopted by the Municipal Council on August 6, 2008 through Resolution 7R1-be, and subsequently amended on April 27, 2010 through Resolution 7R1-a(S).
Section 3. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This Ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
STATEMENT
This Ordinance amends and supplements Title XXIII, Traffic, Chapter 7 Parking Meter Regulations, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, (2000), as amended and supplemented, 23:7-3.3 Parking Limited to two (2) hours 9:00 A.M., except Sunday, by adding two (2) additional parking locations along portions of Littleton Avenue and West Market Street.
