The Department of Engineering originally requested $3,400,199.00 in its January 9, 2019 grant application.
This will amend Resolution 7R3-a(S) adopted on February 13, 2019, which authorized the City to apply for $3,400,199.00 in grant funding, to alternatively apply and accept $1,648,513.00 in grant funding.

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Local Freight Impact Fund (LFIF) Grant Program provides funding for transportation projects that address the impact of freight travel to local communities and local transportation infrastructures; and
WHEREAS, on January 9, 2019, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering submitted (1) LFIF-2019-McClellan Street Local Impact Frei-00044 and (2) LFIF-2019-Doremus Ave Port Newark Connect-00042 applications electronically to NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $3,400,199.00 for the Doremus Avenue and McClellan Street Resurfacing Improvement with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the above application, the City of Newark received notice on July 18, 2019, (a copy of the NJDOT approval letter is attached hereto and made a part hereof) that it has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,648,513.00 from the NJDOT's Local Freight Impact Fund Fiscal Year 2019 for Doremus Avenue Port Newark Connect, with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering wants to amend Resolution 7R3-A(s), adopted on February 13th, 2019, to authorize the execution of an agreement with and accept grant funds in the amount of $1,648,513.00 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Local Freight Impact Fund (LFIF) Grant Program for Doremus Avenue Port Newark Connect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Resolution 7R3-A(s), adopted on February 13, 2019, is hereby amended to authorize the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, to accept the grant award in the amount of $1,648,513.00 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Local Freight Impact Fund (LFIF) Grant Program (a copy of the NJDOT grant award approval letter is attached hereto and made a part hereof).
2. The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, are hereby authorized to enter into and execute grant documents with the NJDOT to receive and expend the grant award in the amount of $1,648,513.00 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Local Freight Impact Fund (LFIF) Grant Program.
3. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
4. The Director of Engineering shall file a fully executed copy of the grant application, the grant award letter, the final authorization letter, and the grant/project agreement in the Office of the City Clerk.
