The Ferdinand Street Block Party will be held on Ferdinand Street between 20th Street and Grove Street (West Ward), from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, The Juneteenth Festival will provide a variety of positive things for all residents and give the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, families and friends that can attend and bring their children to explore a new and exciting experience; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of The Juneteenth Festival held on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Hawthorne Place (South Ward), on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of The Juneteenth Festival held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Five Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($550.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares sponsorship by the Municipal Council of The Juneteenth Festival, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($550.00), for an event held in the South Ward on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Hawthorne Place, Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Patrick O. Council.
