WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the "City") desires to participate in the Sustainable Jersey PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program Outreach Campaign Residential Track (the "Program"); and
WHEREAS, on June 30, 2026, the Office of Sustainability, Resilience and Community Transformation, submitted an application requesting grant funding from the Program in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00), a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, to support the City's Residential Outreach Campaign activities and advance community awareness of residential energy efficiency opportunities, potential energy and cost savings, and participation in PSE&G residential energy efficiency programs; and
WHEREAS, on July 2, 2026, as a result of the application, Sustainable Jersey awarded the City a grant in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00), a copy of the award letter which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and approved the City’s Residential Outreach Campaign activities; and
WHEREAS, Sustainable Jersey requires the City to use the funds solely for activities described in the approved application and in accordance with the Program guidelines and submit a final report through the Sustainable Jersey grant portal no later than July 31, 2027, including a brief project summary describing campaign activities, accomplishments, and a simple expense report documenting the use of grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the grant award; and
WHEREAS, no municipal funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, and the Business Administrator, are authorized to submit an application to Sustainable Jersey for grant funding in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00) through the Sustainable Jersey PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program Outreach Campaign Residential Track.
2. The Municipal Council ratifies its authorization of the application from the date of submission to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
3. As a result of the application, Sustainable Jersey awarded the City a grant in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00), which is hereby accepted. A copy of the award letter is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
4. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, and the Business Administrator, are authorized to enter into and execute any documents necessary to accept the grant award and to receive and expend the grant funds solely for activities described in the approved application and in accordance with the Program guidelines.
5. The Municipal Council ratifies the acceptance of the grant award and all actions taken pursuant to the grant from July 2, 2026 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
6. The Office of Sustainability, Resilience and Community Transformation shall complete the approved Residential Outreach Campaign activities and submit the required final report through the Sustainable Jersey grants portal no later than July 31, 2027.
7. No municipal funds are required for the application for or acceptance of this grant award.
8. The Business Administrator shall file a fully executed copy of the grant application, award letter, and any related grant documents in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, to apply for and accept Five Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($5,000.00) from the Sustainable Jersey PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program Outreach Campaign Residential Track. The grant supports the City's approved residential energy efficiency outreach activities. No municipal funds are required for the application for or acceptance of this grant award.
