The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees of ($100.00) for the street closure will be waived.

Whereas, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the resident of Newark, while also bringing residents together for social gatherings and educational awareness to issues that effects all segments of our society; and

 

Whereas, the Annual Back to School Celebration held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, on Division Street (between Broad Street and McCarter Highway) (Central Ward) from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.; and

 

Whereas, the Annual Back to School Celebration will consist of children receiving items for returning back to school with bookbags, writing utensils, paper and more; and

 

Whereas, the City’s Special Event Application Fees totaling One Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($100.00) will be waived for the event.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Annual Back to School Celebration, held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, on Division Street (between Broad Street and McCarter Highway) (Central Ward), from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City’s Special Event Permit Application Fees totaling One Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($100.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Annual Back to School Celebration, on Division Street (between Broad Street and McCarter Highway) (Central Ward), held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees totaling $100.00, co-sponsored by Council Member, Luis A. Quintana.
