WHEREAS, the Municipal Council desires to support the Annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held at Branch Brook Park, Cherry Blossom Welcome Center, Newark, New Jersey 07104, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 (Rain Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026), from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., including set-up beginning at 9:00 A.M. and clean-up/breakdown concluding at 5:00 P.M.); and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support for this community-oriented event benefitting Newark residents by authorizing the issuance of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, for the benefit of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 155 Prospect Ave Suite 100, West Orange, New Jersey 07052.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the issuance of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, to be drawn by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, for the benefit of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 155 Prospect Avenue, Suite 100, West Orange, New Jersey 07052, for any claims arising out of the City of Newark’s use of Branch Brook Park, Cherry Blossom Welcome Center, Newark, New Jersey 07104, in connection with the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 (Rain Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026).
2. The City Clerk, on behalf of the Municipal Council, shall forward a true copy of the executed Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement to the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 115 Clifton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07104, for its records.
3. A copy of the executed Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This Resolution authorizes the issuance, by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission, of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, in favor of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs in connection with the City of Newark’s use of Branch Brook Park, Cherry Blossom Welcome Center, Newark, New Jersey 07104, for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Council Member Luis A. Quintana, to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 (Rain Date: Saturday, April 11, 2026).
