Resolution 7R5-d adopted on October 11, 2018, for the Immunization 2019 Grant, in the amount of $523,000.00 is amended to provided additional grant funds in the amount of $76,500.00 for a total grant amount of $599,500.00.

WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Community Wellness provides immunization services to increase immunization coverage levels for children and adults through the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program in the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, has made additional funds available for the provision of such services through the Immunization 2019 Grant; and
WHEREAS, on October 11, 2018, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R5-d, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to accept grant funds in the amount of $523,000.00 from the NJDOH; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 2019, NJDOH notified Department of Health and Community Wellness of additional funds in the amount of $76,500.00, for the Immunization Program for the period commencing on July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 (a copy of NJDOH Notice of Grant Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, desires to accept the additional funds in the amount $76,500.00 to continue support to selected initiatives to increase immunization levels; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark recognizes that the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and
WHEREAS, the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, will amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease additional funds, if made available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Resolution 7R5-d adopted on October 11, 2018, is hereby amended to increase the overall Immunization 2019 Grant funding from $523,000.00 to $599,500.00.
2. The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept additional funds in the amount of $76,500.00 from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, for the Immunization 2019 Grant, to continue support to selected initiatives to increase immunization levels with no City funds required.
3. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of additional funds from July 1, 2018 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
4. The grant award in the amount of $76,500.00 from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, is hereby accepted.
5. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from July 1, 2018 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
6. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
7. The Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness shall file a copy of the grant award letter in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to accept additional funds in the amount of $76,500.00 from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, to continue support of the Immunization Program, for the period commencing on July 1, 2018 and terminating on June 30, 2019. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
