WHEREAS, on or about January 18, 2022, Greater Newark Health Care Coalition (GNHCC), 80 Main Street, Suite 10 West Orange New Jersey 07052, proposed funding assistance to the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness (DHCW) to close fiscal gaps related to DHCW COVID-19 expenditures incurred in 2021; and
WHEREAS, the GNHCC, desires to award the DHCW Twenty-Two Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($22,531.00), for the period of September 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021, for the cost of 2021 COVID-19 isolation and quarantine expenses incurred at the Robert Treat Hotel only; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the DHCW executed a GNHCC Grant Agreement, dated February 3, 2022, attached hereto, to accept grant funds in the amount of Twenty-Two Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($22,531.00), for the cost of 2021 COVID-19 isolation and quarantine expenses incurred, at the Robert Treat Hotel only, for the period of September 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021; and
WHEREAS, no municipal funds are required for receipt of acceptance of these grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept and execute a Grant Award letter (attached hereto) for funds from Greater Newark Health Care Coalition, 80 Main Street, Suite 10, West Orange, New Jersey 07052, to pay for 2021 COVID-19 isolation and quarantines expenses incurred at the Robert Treat Hotel only, in the amount of Twenty-Two Thousand Five Hundred Thirty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($22,531.00).
2. The resulting funding award in the amount of Twenty-Two Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($22,531.00) from Greater Newark Health Care Coalition is hereby accepted.
3. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from, September 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021, to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
4. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to receive and expend the grant award to pay for 2021 COVID-19 isolation and quarantine expenses incurred at the Robert Treat Hotel only, for the period commencing September 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021.
5. No municipal funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
STATEMENT
This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the actions taken by the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of Health and Community Wellness, to accept grant funds in the amount of $22,531.00 from Greater Newark Health Care Coalition, 80 Main Street, Suite 10, West Orange, New Jersey 07052, to pay for 2021 COVID-19 isolation and quarantine expenses incurred at the Robert Treat Hotel only, for a period commencing September 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021. No municipal funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
