WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 7R5-d adopted on September 5, 2024, the City of Newark’s (“City”) Department of Health and Community Wellness applied for and accepted grant funds from the State of New Jersey Department of Health (“NJDOH”), P.O. Box 369, Trenton, New Jersey 08625, in the amount of Three Hundred Eighty-Eight Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($388,000.00) to increase immunization coverage levels for children and adults through the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program in the City; and
WHEREAS, on or about October 3, 2024, NJDOH notified the Department of Health and Community Wellness that additional funds in the amount of Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($215,627.00) has been made available, increasing the award amount to Six Hundred Three Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($603,627.00) (a copy of NJDOH Notice of Grant Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the additional funds; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the NJDOH may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness shall, upon any extension of time of the grant and/or increase/decrease of additional funds, file an amending resolution reflecting the amendment; and
WHEREAS, terms of this grant award may only be waived or amended by the parties duly authorized to execute the grant, subject to the approval of the Municipal Council by resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. This Resolution shall amend Resolution 7R5-d, adopted on September 5, 2024, to accept additional funding from the New Jersey Department of Health (“NJDOH”) in the amount of Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($215,627.00) for the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program, increasing the total award amount to Six Hundred Three Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($603,627.00).
2. The grant award in the amount of Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($215,627.00) from the NJDOH is hereby accepted.
3. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of additional funds from October 3, 2024 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
4. The City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness shall, upon any extension of time of the grant and/or increase or decrease of additional funds, file an amending resolution reflecting the extension time and award amount of the grant.
5. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
6. The Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness shall file a fully executed copy of the notice of award in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark, and or/his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend Resolution 7R5-d adopted on September 5, 2024 and accept additional funds in the amount of Two Hundred Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($215,627.00) from the State of New Jersey Department of Health, Division of Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health, revising the total grant amount to Six Hundred Three Thousand Six Hundred Twenty Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($603,627.00),, to continue the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
