Body
WHEREAS, on October 05, 2011 through Resolution 7R1-F, the Municipal Council authorized the Mayor and Business Administrator to file a new consolidated plan with HUD, which contains a request for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount $7,835,598.00, HOME funds in the amount $3,716,178.00 Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) in the amount of $6,646,588.00 (on behalf of Newark and the "Eligible Metropolitan Area") and Emergency Shelter Grant funds in the amount of $379,213.00 in compliance with Federal statutes and regulations governing the four aid grant programs; and
WHEREAS, on October 05, 2011 through Resolution 7R1-F, the Municipal Council authorized the Mayor and Business Administrator to enter into four separate agreements with HUD to receive and expend FY 2011 Community Development Block Grant funds in the amount of $7,835,598.00, HOME funds in the amount $3,716,178.00, Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) in the amount of $6,646,588.00 (on behalf of Newark and the "Eligible Metropolitan Area") and Emergency Shelter Grant funds in the amount of $379,213.00 for its approval; and
WHEREAS, 26.25% of the total appropriation in the Budget exclusive of any appropriations made of Debt Service, Capital and Relief fund Contributions in the 2012 Budget in the sum of $132,726,664.00.
WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to establish the block grant program and appropriate the funds to the various sub-grantees (ALL WARDS).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
