WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to fifty (50) Constables to establish the term for such appointment at one (1) or three (3) years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to appoint Shadid Jamal Webb as a Constable, for a three (3) year term. N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Shadid Jamal Webb, of 54 Vermont Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106, be and is hereby appointed as a Constable, in accordance with his application to serve warrants, evictions, subpoenas and security detail.
2. Prior to entering upon the execution of his office, and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by resolution of the Newark Municipal Council.
3. This appointment shall be for a period of three (3) years from the date of
the appointment or to the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever
occurs first.
STATEMENT
This resolution authorizes the appointment of Shadid Jamal Webb, of 54 Vermont Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106, to serve as a Constable in the City of Newark, New Jersey for a period of three (3) years from the date of the appointment or to the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
