WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety, Fire Division is presently warehousing, at considerable cost three (3) fire trucks, #1209 E-One 1989 (VIN #46BBAA87K1-002892), #1237 E-One 1994 (VIN #4ENRAAA80R1-003956), and #1247 American LaFrance 2009 (VIN #1AFAAJCG79RZ53878);
WHEREAS, although the apparatus have not been used, they are still useful to other Fire Departments;
WHEREAS, the Hon Samuel Pyne of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has expressed a need for three (3) fire trucks, #1209 E-One 1989, #1237 E-One 1994, and #1247 American LaFrance 2009;
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-36, the City of Newark is authorized to enter into contract with a foreign nation without public advertisement for bids regarding the sale or other disposition of personal property that is no longer needed for public purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark, wishes to sell three (3) fire trucks, #1209 E-One 1989, #1237 E-One 1994, and #1247 American LaFrance 2009 which are no longer needed by the Department of Public Safety, Fire Division to the government of Kumasi, Ghana West-Africa, for a nominal fee of one dollar ($1.00), for use by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety or the Purchasing Agent, QPA, is hereby authorized to enter into contract with the government of Kumasi, Ghana West-Africa, for the sale, for a nominal fee of One Dollar ($1.00), #1209 E-One 1989, #1237 E-One 1994, and #1247 American LaFrance 2009, three (3) fire trucks.
2. No municipal funds shall be required for the transfer of this equipment to the government of Kumasi, Ghana West-Africa.
STATEMENT
This Resolution authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety or Purchasing Agent, QPA to sell #1209 E-One 1989 (VIN #46BBAA87K1-002892), #1237 E-One 1994 (VIN #4ENRAAA80R1-003956), and #1247 American LaFrance 2009 (VIN #1AFAAJCG79RZ53878), three (3) fire trucks, to the government of Kumasi, Ghana West-Africa for a nominal fee of One Dollar ($1.00).
