Whereas, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the resident of Newark, while also bringing residents together for social gatherings and educational awareness to issues that effects all segments of our society; and
Whereas, the Tillinghast Block Party will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, on Tillinghast Street between Osborne Terrace and Clinton Place from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. The City’s Special Event Application Fee of $50.00 and the street closure fee of $50.00 totaling $100.00 will be waived for the event; and
Whereas, the Tillinghast Block Party will consist of kids bounce houses, card games, skateboard, bike riding, basketball, chess playing, food and fellowship with neighbors and residents in the immediate area; and
Whereas, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Tillinghast Block Party to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. (South Ward) (Rain Date: Saturday, September 7, 2024).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Tillinghast Block Party to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, on Tillinghast Street between Osborne Terrace and Clinton Place from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City’s Special Event Application Fee of $50.00 and the street closure fee of $50.00 totaling $100.00.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Tillinghast Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Application Fees, for an event to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. (South Ward) (Rain Date: Saturday, September 7, 2024), co-sponsored by Council Member, Patrick O. Council.
