WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and

WHEREAS, the Better Together Community Block Party will be a fun-filled event with community allies, families, neighbors, free food, fitness, entertainment edutainment, games services, and resources; and

WHEREAS, Better Together Community Block Party will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 at South 17^th between 18^th Avenue and 19^th Avenue, (South Ward), from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Better Together Community Block Party will be held Sunday, September 21, 202 on South 17^th between 18^th Avenue and 19^th Avenue, (South Ward), from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application ($100.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

STATEMENT

This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Better Together Community Barbeque Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($100.00), for an event to be held on South 17^th between 18^th Avenues and 19^th Avenue (South Ward), on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council Member Patrick O. Council.
