WHEREAS, on April 15, 2015, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark adopted Resolution 7R10-a 041515, which [1] authorized the Mayor or his designee, the Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services, to enter into and execute documents with Public Service Electric and Gas (“PSE&G”) and the Greater Newark Local Initiative Support Corporation (“LISC”) as may be needed to accept grant funding in the amount of $100,000.00 for the renovation of the Boylan Street Recreation Center, with a grant period commencing on September 1, 2014, and terminating on August 31, 2015, and [2] accepted the grant award in the amount of $100,000.00 from PSE&G/LISC (a copy of said Resolution 7R10-a 041515 is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the renovation of the Boylan Street Recreation Center was unable to be completed prior to the expiration of the original grant period; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services and/or his staff contacted grant-intermediary LISC and requested that the grant period be extended to December 31, 2015; and
WHEREAS, LISC, on behalf of PSE&G/LISC, agreed to extend the grant period to December 31, 2015 (a copy of an e-mail from Ms. Nakeefa Garay of LISC dated September 1, 2015, confirming the agreement to extend the grant period is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services recommends that Resolution 7R10-a 041515 be amended to reflect an extension of the grant period to December 31, 2015.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Resolution 7R10-a 041515 be, and hereby is, amended by changing the grant period termination date from August 31, 2015, through December 31, 2015, to complete renovation of the Boylan Street Recreation Center.
2. All other terms and conditions of Resolution 7R10-a 041515 shall remain unchanged and be in full force and effect.
3. The Mayor or his designee, the Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services, are hereby authorized to enter into and execute such documents with PSE&G/LISC as may be necessary to effectuate the new grant period termination date of December 31, 2015.
4. The Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services shall file copies of fully-executed documents that may be necessary to effectuate the new grant period termination date.
STATEMENT
This resolution hereby amends, ratifies and authorizes Resolution 7R10-a 041515 by extending the grant period termination date from August 31, 2015 through December 31, 2015, so that the grant award of $100,000.00 previously accepted by Resolution 7R10-a 041515 for the renovation of the Boylan Street Recreation Center may be utilized for said purpose until that date.
