WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146 requires every municipality in the State of New Jersey to have a Tax Assessor, who is to be appointed by the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the Tax Assessor, Romal D. Bullock, who was tenured in his position, resigned as of June 29, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Newark has determined that Aaron Maclean Wilson, who is a Certified Tax Assessor in the State of New Jersey, has the qualifications and experience to hold the position and perform the duties of Tax Assessor in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor is appointing Aaron Maclean Wilson to fill the unexpired term left by the former Tax Assessor, Romal D. Bullock, commencing November 2, 2018, and ending on June 30, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor wishes to appoint Aaron Maclean Wilson to a four (4) year term commencing from the 1st day of July, 2019 pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148 ending on June 30, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark is appointing Aaron Maclean Wilson as the Tax Assessor for the City of Newark.
2. Aaron Maclean Wilson is completing the unexpired term of the prior Tax Assessor, Romal D. Bullock; and, is appointed as Tax Assessor for the City of Newark commencing on November 2, 2018 and ending on June 30, 2019.
3. The Mayor wishes to appoint Aaron Maclean Wilson to the Tax Assessor’s statutory four (4) year term commencing on July 1, 2019 and ending on June 30, 2023 authorized under N.J.S. A. 40A:9-148.
4. This appointment shall be ratified from November 2, 2018 to the date of this resolution and supersedes any prior legislation or appointment for this individual.
STATEMENT
This resolution confirms the appointment of Aaron Maclean Wilson to the position of Tax Assessor for the City of Newark, filling the unexpired term of the former Tax Assessor, Romal D. Bullock, commencing November 2, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019 and appoints Aaron Maclean Wilson to his own statutory four (4) year term commencing on July 1, 2019 and ending on June 30, 2023.
