The Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Commercial Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign Program, assists municipalities in encouraging local and small  businesses to take advantage of energy efficiency programs to help lower emissions in their businesses.

                      WHEREAS, Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Commercial Energy Efficiency Partnership Campaign Program (“Program”) was created to assist municipalities in encouraging local small businesses in Newark to apply for energy efficiency incentives to save them money and improve the energy efficiency of their businesses; and

 

                      WHEREAS, the program offers resources to businesses to take advantage of energy efficiency incentive programs that save energy and money for their businesses; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the City of Newark (“City”) desires to participate in the Program; and

 

                     WHEREAS, on or about January 9, 2025, on behalf of the City, the Office of Sustainability applied to the Program requesting grant funds (a copy of the application is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

                     WHEREAS, as a result of this application, on January 16, 2025, the City was awarded a start-up grant in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00), for the period of January 16, 2025 through December 31, 2025 (a copy of the award letter is attached hereto and made a part of hereof); and

 

                     WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the grant award, with no City funds required; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the City recognizes that Sustainable Jersey may extend the time of the grant award and/or provide additional funds if made available.

 

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark (“City”), and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, is authorized to submit an application to Sustainable Jersey, requesting grant funding for the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Commercial Energy Efficiency Partnership Program (“Program”), which offers wrap-around support, customized resources, and flexible funding options for residents to lower emissions in their businesses, for the period of January 16, 2025 through December 31, 2025 (a copy of the application is attached hereto and made a part hereof).

 

2.                     The Municipal Council ratifies its authorization of this application from the date of the application submission to the date of this authorizing Resolution.

 

3.                     Pursuant to this application, Sustainable Jersey has awarded the City a grant in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00), which is hereby accepted (a copy of the award letter is attached hereto and made a part hereof).

 

4.                     The Mayor of the City, and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, is hereby authorized to enter into and expend the grant award in the amount of $2,500.00 receive and expend the grant award from Sustainable Jersey for the period commencing on January 16, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

 

5.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant from January 16, 2025 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.

 

6.                     No municipal funds are required for application or acceptance of this grant award.

 

7.                     The Business Administrator shall file a fully executed copy of the grant application, and grant agreement in the Office of the City Clerk.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

                     This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark, and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, to apply for and accept grant funds in the amount of Two-Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00) for the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Commercial Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign  Program, which assists municipalities in encouraging local small businesses to take advantage of energy efficiency programs to help lower emissions in their businesses,  for the period commencing on January 16, 2025 through December 31, 2025. No Municipal funds are required for application or acceptance of this award.
