The World Homeless Day event in collaboration with Newark Emergency Services for Families (NESF) will be held at Lincoln Park between Broad Street and Clinton Street (Central Ward).
The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark, while also bringing attention and awareness to an issue that effects all segments of the society; and
WHEREAS, “World Homeless Day” provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations such as the Newark Emergency Services for Families (NESF), to bring attention to the issue of homelessness, which has shattered many lives and families, while also providing vital services to individuals and family groups, who are homeless and valuable resources to those on the brink of homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of “World Homeless Day”, to be held in Lincoln Park on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 8:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of “World Homeless Day”, to be held at Lincoln Park, on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of Newark Emergency Services for Families’ (NESF) “World Homeless Day” event, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of $50.00, to be held at Lincoln Park between Broad Street and Clinton Street (Central Ward), on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., sponsored by Council President, LaMonica R. McIver.
