WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, for over fourteen (14) years, Monsignor Joseph F. Ambrosio provided spiritual guidance, comfort and joy serving as a Priest, Bishop and Monsignor for the many congregants of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, he was appointed Reverend Monsignor by Pope John Paul II, and until his death in October 2020, he fulfilled his personal commitment and sacrifice to his Christian faith, dutifully serving not only the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church congregation, but also the many residents of Ironbound and throughout the City of Newark.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Adams Street and Oliver Street as “Monsignor Joseph F. Ambrosio Way.”
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Adams Street and Oliver Street in their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the renaming of the intersection of Adams Street and Oliver Street as “Monsignor Joseph F. Ambrosio Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
