WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Dolly and Art’s Luncheonette, established over 50 years ago in the Ironbound Section of Newark, became a favorite of the community not only for its warm and family atmosphere, but also for its tasty and filling breakfast, and lunch, late-night snacks or an ice cream float or milk shake; and
WHEREAS, Dolly, served as a mother figure for many seeking guidance, love and nurturing, and when necessary exhibiting her no-nonsense “fighting Irish” roots, while Art was lovingly referred to as “the mayor of Wilson Avenue”, for his compassion and leadership in overseeing community beautification efforts, ensuring the streets were cleaned properly and snow-blowing a path for his neighbors; and
WHEREAS, together the contributions of Dolly and Art’s Luncheonette to the Ironbound community is immeasurable and truly worthy of recognition and a shining example for generations to come of true community “pride and ownership”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of intersection of Wilson Avenue and Darcy Street as “Dolly and Art Way”.
2. The official name of said streets shall remain as Wilson Avenue and Darcy Street in its entirety.

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Darcy Street “Dolly and Art Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
