WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, the late Newark Police Officer, Alfred “Al” Squartino was a truly dedicated member of the Department of Public Safety, Police Division, who proudly served the residents of Newark for twenty-eight (28) years; and
WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career, Police Officer Squartino became a fixture in his beloved community ensuring the safety and welfare of all residents. His “can-do” attitude, commitment, and selfless service to the Newark community is a testament to the countless number of lives he touched with his unbounded generosity, compassion, and kindness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of North 7th Street and Bloomfield Avenue as “P/O Alfred “Al” Squartino Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain North 7th Street and Bloomfield Avenue in their entirety.

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of North 7th Street and Bloomfield Avenue as “P/O Alfred “Al” Squartino Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
