WHEREAS, Newark Housing Authority, 500 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd Newark, NJ 07102 would like to donate three (3) mini-buses to expand transportation services for senior citizens, enabling access to essential and enriching daily activities; and
WHEREAS, said donation reflects Newark Housing Authority commitment to supporting Newark senior’s residents; and
WHEREAS, the donation has a value of Fifty-Two Thousand Three Hundred Eighty - Nine Dollars and Zero Cents ($52,389.00); and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services (“Department”) desires to accept the donation of the three (3) mini-buses and acknowledge the donation; and
WHEREAS, Newark Housing Authority fully understands and agrees that it is not entitled to receive any direct benefit from the City of Newark, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, or any other personnel affiliated with the City of Newark in exchange for the gift; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Local Public Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:5-29, a municipality is authorized and empowered to accept bequests, legacies and gifts made to it and is empowered to utilize such bequests, legacies and gifts in the manner set forth in the conditions of the bequest, legacy or gift provided, however, that such bequest, legacy, or gift shall not be put to any use which is inconsistent with the laws of the State of New Jersey and the United States of America.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services are authorized to accept the donation from Newark Housing Authority Newark, New Jersey 07102, of three (3) mini-buses (29 passenger vehicle).
2. This gift is valued at Fifty-Two Thousand Three Hundred Eighty - Nine Dollars and Zero Cents ($52,389.00).
3. The City acknowledges the generous donation of the three (3) mini-buses through this Resolution.
4. The authorization granted hereunder is ratified back from February 10, 2026, to the date of adoption of this Resolution.
5. No municipal funds will be expended for the acceptance of this gift.

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor and/or the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services to accept the donation from Newark Housing Authority, Newark, New Jersey 07102, of three (3) mini-buses. The gift is valued at $52,389.00
