WHEREAS, at the request of the Department of Engineering and review of the traffic operations by New Jersey Transit in conjunction with the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals and pursuant to N.J.S.A 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described location is relocated as a bus stop:
DELETE BUS STOP:
1. In the South Ward, along Maple Avenue, northbound on the easterly side thereof:
Keer Avenue, farside
Beginning at the northerly curb line of Maple Avenue, and extending 100ft northerly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may, by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate or delete a bus stop; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(e) a municipality may without the approval of the Commissioner, and consistent with the current standards prescribed by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, by ordinance, resolution or regulation in any street under its jurisdiction designate stops, stations, or stands for omnibuses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the South Ward, the following described location is hereby deleted as a bus stop:
Along Maple Avenue, northbound on the easterly side, at Keer Avenue, (farside), beginning at the northerly curb line of Maple Avenue and extending 100ft northerly therefrom.
2. No Municipal funds need to be expended for this act.
3. No Amendment will be made to this resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council of the City of Newark.
4. Upon approval, the Engineering Department will forward a copy of this resolution to the City Clerk’s Office to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
5. Upon approval, a certified copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to New Jersey Transit to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
6. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-8(e) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, the proposed bus stop relocation does not require New Jersey Department of Transportation’s approval.
STATEMENT
This resolution designates the deletion of a bus stop in the South Ward as follows: Along Maple Avenue, northbound on the easterly side, at Keer Avenue, (farside) beginning at the northerly curb line of Maple Avenue and extending 100ft northerly therefrom.
