Original Apply and Accept Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on January 10, 2024, authorized a grant award in the amount of $66,666.00, for the period of September 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
This Amending Resolution will accept additional grant funding from Acenda, Inc., in the amount of $6,666.67 for a new grant award total of $73,333.67 and an extension of time to expend the funds through July 31, 2024.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 7R5-a adopted January 10, 2024, the City of Newark’s (“City”) Department of Health and Community Wellness applied for and accepted grant funds from Acenda, Inc. in the amount of Sixty-Six Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars and Zero Cents ($66,666.00) for the period of September 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, on or about July 23, 2024, Acenda,Inc. notified the City that additional funds in the amount of Six Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($6,666.67) were made available, thus increasing the grant total to Seventy-Three Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Three Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($73,333.67), and the time to expend the funds would be amended to July 31, 2024 (a copy of the email notification is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness desires to accept the additional funds and extension of time; and
WHEREAS, Acenda, Inc. may amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease the amount of the award; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness, shall upon any such extension of time of the grant and/or increase/decrease of additional funds, file an amending resolution reflecting the final term and award amount of the grant; and
WHEREAS, terms of this grant award may only be waived or amended by the parties duly authorized to execute the grant, subject to the approval of the Municipal Council by resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. This Resolution shall amend Resolution 7R5-a, adopted by the Municipal Council on January 10, 2024, to amend the grant period to July 31, 2024 and accept additional funds from Acenda, Inc. in the amount of Six Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($6,666.67).
2. The Mayor of the City of Newark (“City”) and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept and expend the additional funds.
3. The new grant total shall be Seventy-Three Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Three Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($73,333.67).
4. Upon grant authorization and ratification of this Resolution, the term of the grant shall be amended to be through July 31, 2024.
5. The City’s Department of Health and Community Wellness shall upon any
extension of time of the grant, and/or increase/decrease of funds, file an amending
resolution reflecting the final time and award amount of the grant.
6. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from the date the electronic acceptance was filed to the dated of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
7. No Municipal matching funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of this grant award.
STATEMENT
This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the actions taken by the Mayor of the City of Newark, and/or his designee, the Director of Health and Community Wellness, to accept additional grant funds in the amount of Six Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($6,666.67) and amend the period of time to expend funds through July 31, 2024 from Acenda, Inc., revising the total grant amount to Seventy Three Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Three Dollars and Sixty-Seven Cents ($73,333.67). No Municipal matching funds are required for the receipt or acceptance of the grant funds.
