WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, on May 23, 2018, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R8-i(as) authorizing the ceremonial street designation of 169 Meeker Avenue, between Empire Street and Elizabeth Avenue as Josloff Way; and
WHEREAS, the sponsor of the authorizing resolution, Council President, Mildred C. Crump, has since requested that the site of the original street designation be amended and the signage be placed at the northwest corner of Empire Street and Meeker Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Resolution 7R8-i(as) adopted on May 23, 2018, designating 169 Meeker Street between Empire Street and Elizabeth Avenue as “Josloff Way” for honorary and ceremonial purposes is hereby amended by changing the location, to the northwest corner of Empire Street and Meeker Avenue.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Empire Street and Meeker Avenue in their entirety.
STATEMENT
This resolution hereby amends Resolution 7R8-i(as) adopted on May 23, 2018 and authorizes changing the location from 169 Meeker Avenue, between Empire Street and Elizabeth Avenue, to the northwest corner of Empire Street and Meeker Avenue as “Josloff Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
