AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE 33, WATER, CHAPTER 4, RATES AND CHARGES, SECTION 4-4, CHARGES FOR PRIVATE FIRE LINES, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, (TO ADJUST CHARGES FOR PRIVATE FIRE LINES).

WHEREAS, the City of Newark, Department of Water and Sewer Utility has determined that it is necessary to adjust connection fees private fire lines City-wide,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY:

Section 1. That Title 33, Chapter 4, Section 4-4, be and is hereby deleted in its entirety and replaced as indicated below:
33:4-4. CHARGES FOR PRIVATE FIRE LINES.
(Rates Effective January 1, 20142015, as per adjustment by the Director of Water and Sewer Utilities.)
The following charges shall be made for private fire line connection services:
a. Charges: Metered Fire-Lines. Based on the size of the fire line pipe (not the size of the meter including any meter in the main fire line pipe or any bypass or detector check meter);

Beginning on January 1, 2008, and annually thereafter, the Director of Water and Sewer Utilities shall adjust private fire line rates not to exceed the Cost of Living Adjustment. This shall be based on the Implicit Price Deflator for State and Local Governments for New Jersey and published by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Section 1: Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are herein repealed.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication, and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
STATEMENT
This ordinance amends and increases fees for private fire lines.
