WHEREAS, on January 28, 2020, the Municipal Council, adopted Resolution 7R9-a(S/AS), authorizing the Department of Public Safety, Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (“OEM”) to enter into and execute a contract with University Hospital (“UH”) to provide CPR and Bleeding Control Training and equipment commencing on the date the contract is fully executed through August 31, 2020, for an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($150,000.00); and

 

WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the State of New Jersey, Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, Urban Areas Security Initiative Grant Funds FY’17 has granted approval for changes to the terms of the contract service and extension thereof of the contract period (see approval hereto attached); and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety (OEM), wishes to amend the contract termination date from August 31, 2020 to November 16, 2020 and to amend the timeframe requirement for training services (due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic) and provide any additional training equipment and materials necessary; and

 

WHEREAS, all other terms and conditions under the contract remain the same.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, are hereby authorized to amend and extend the contract with University Hospital, 150 Bergen Street, Newark, New Jersey 07103, to provide CPR and Bleeding Control Training and equipment, approved by Resolution 7R9-a(S/AS), adopted on January 28, 2020, to extend the termination date of the contract from August 31, 2020 to November 16, 2020.

 

2.                     The contract terms are hereby amended to extend the timeframe requirement of training services and provide any additional training materials and equipment.

 

3.                     This resolution shall be ratified from August 31, 2020 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.

 

4.                     All other terms and conditions under the contract remain the same.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, to amend and extend the contract with University Hospital, 150 Bergen Street, Newark, New Jersey to provide CPR and Bleeding Control Training and equipment, which was approved by Resolution 7R9-a(S/AS), adopted on January 28, 2020, by extending the termination date of the contract from August 31, 2020 to November 16, 2020.  All other terms and conditions under the contract remain the same.
