AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:2-1, ONE-WAY STREETS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC , OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY AMENDING THE ONE-WAY STREETS ON WAYDELL STREET AND COMMERCE STREET.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to change the one-way designation of Commerce Street from a one-way east bound to a one-way west bound between Raymond Plaza East and Market Street as a result of the Penn Station Circulation Project; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to change the one-way designation of Waydell Street from one-way north bound, to a two-way street between Ferry Street and Raymond Boulevard, necessitated by a revision to the Hayes Park East Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:2-1, One-Way Streets, of Title 23, Traffic, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by deleting therefrom the following:
Commerce Street, east bound, from Raymond Plaza East to Market Street
Waydell Street, north bound, from Ferry Street to Raymond Boulevard
Section 2. That Section 23:2-1, One-Way Streets, of Title 23, Traffic, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Commerce Street, west bound, from Raymond Plaza East to Market Street
Section 3. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section5. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance changes the one-way designation of Commerce Street from a one-way east bound to a one-way west bound, and Waydell Street from a one-way north bound street to a two-way street in the East Ward.
