Additional Information: The original Apply and Accept Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on January 24, 2024, accepted a grant award in the amount of $4,019,113.00.

An amending Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on October 2, 2024, accepted additional funds in the amount of $35,659.00, updating the total grant award to $4,054,772.00.

An amending Resolution 7R5-b, adopted on December 4, 2024, accepted additional funds in the amount of $56,038.00, updating the total grant award to of $4,110,810.00.

                      WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 7R5-b, adopted on December 4, 2024, the City of Newark (the “City”) accepted a grant award from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Service Administration having an address at Hubert H. Humphrey Building, 200 Independence Avenue, S.W, Washington, D.C. 20201 (HRSA), to accept  funding  Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on January 24, 2024, in the amount of $4,019,113.00.An amending Resolution 7R5-a, adopted on October 2, 2024, accepted additional funds in the amount of $35,659.00, updating the total grant award to $4,054,772.00. An amending Resolution 7R5-b, adopted on December 4, 2024, accepted additional funds in the amount of $56,038.00, updating the total grant award to of $4,110,810.00 to continue to provide an array of services; and

 

WHEREAS, HRSA  provided a Notice of Award, with  no cost to the city for the period of January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025, for the provision of these services; and

 

WHEREAS, the City, desires to accept the no cost extension for the period of January 1, 2024 and terminating on December 31, 2025, from HRSA for the provisions of these services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept the no cost extension for the grant period commencing January 1, 2024, and terminating on December 31, 2025, from the United States Department of Health and Human Services/ Health Resources and Service Administration, Hubert H. Humphrey Building, 200 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C.  20201 (HRSA). A copy of the Notice of Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of the amended Notice of Award from January 1, 2024 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.

 

3.                     The grant amendment to spend Ninety-One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($91,697.00) of the Grant Award in the total amount of Four Million One Hundred Ten Thousand Eight Hundred Ten Dollars and Zero Cents ($4,110,810.00), from the United States Department of Health and Human Services is hereby accepted.

 

4.                     All other terms and conditions of Amending Resolution 7R5-b adopted on December 4, 2024 and the original acceptance of the grantshall remain in full force and effect.

 

 

5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.

 

6. This Resolution is ratified back from January 24, 2024 to the date of its adoption.

 

7. The Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness shall file a copy of this Resolution and the Notice of Award with the office of the City Clerk.

 

8. The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to expend the grant award for the period of January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution authorizes and ratifies the actions taken by the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of Health and Community Wellness, to enter into and execute a no cost extension of the grant period, commencing January 1, 2024, and terminating on December 31, 2025, from the United States Department of Health and Human Services/ Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) to continue providing an array of services to vulnerable populations in the City of Newark and surrounding areas.
