Amending Resolution 7R5-a adopted on September 1, 2021, which accepted a grant amount of $555,586.00 to increase the grant amount by $41,275.00 for a total grant amount of $596,861.00.

 WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Community Wellness provides immunization services to increase immunization coverage levels for children and adults through the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program in the City of Newark; and

 

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, has made additional funds available for the provision of such services through the Immunization 2021 Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, on June 2, 2021, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness (the “City”), submitted an electronic application to the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, for the Immunization 2021 Grant, requesting grant funding in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Six Dollars and Zero Cents ($555,586.00), to continue support to selected initiatives to increase immunization levels; and

 

WHEREAS, on September 1, 2021, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R5-a, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to accept grant funds in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Six Dollars and Zero Cents ($555,586.00) from the NJDOH; and

 

WHEREAS, as on October 6, 2021, NJDOH notified Department of Health and Community Wellness of additional funds in the amount of Forty-One Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars and Zero Cents ($41,275.00) for the immunization program for the period commencing on July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 (a copy of NJDOH Notice of Grant Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, desires to accept the additional funds in the amount Forty-One Thousand Two Hundred and Seventy-Five Dollars and Zero Cents ($41,275.00); and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and

 

WHEREAS, the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, will amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease additional funds, if made available

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept additional funds in the amount of Forty-One Thousand Two Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand and Zero Cents ($41,275.00), from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, for the Immunization 2021 Grant to continue support of immunization program.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies it’s the acceptance of additional funds from July 1, 2021 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

3.                     The grant award in the amount of Forty-One Thousand Two Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand and Zero Cents ($41,275.00) from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, is hereby accepted.

 

4.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from July 1, 2021 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

5.                     No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark and or/his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend Resolution 7R5-a adopted on September 1, 2021 to accept additional funds in the amount of $41,275.00 from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, to continue support of the immunization program for the period commencing on July 1, 2021 and terminating on June 30, 2022. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
