WHEREAS, Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign Program (“Program”) was created to assist municipalities in encouraging their residents to utilize residential energy efficiency incentives to help them save money and improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes or apartments; and
WHEREAS, the program offers wrap-around support, customized resources, and flexible funding options for residents to take actions that lower emissions in their buildings and homes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark (“City”) desires to participate in the Program; and
WHEREAS, on or about April 1, 2025, on behalf of the City, the Office of Sustainability applied to the Program requesting grant funds (a copy of the application is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, as a result of this application, on April 14, 2025, the City was awarded a start-up grant in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00), for the period of April 14, 2025 through April 31, 2026 (a copy of the award letter is attached hereto and made a part of here of); and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accept the grant award, with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Newark (“City”), and/or his designee, the Business Administrator is required to upload a signed/dated municipal resolution to the Sustainable Jersey application/grant portal before grant funds can be disbursed to the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that Sustainable Jersey may extend the time of the grant award and/or provide additional funds if made available.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark (“City”), and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, is authorized to submit an application to Sustainable Jersey, requesting grant funding for the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign Program (“Program”),for the period of April 14, 2025 through April 31, 2026 (a copy of the application is attached hereto and made a part hereof).
2. The Municipal Council ratifies its authorization of this application from the date of the application submission to the date of this authorizing Resolution.
3. Pursuant to this application, Sustainable Jersey, P.O. Box 6855, Lawrenceville, New Jersey 08648, has awarded the City a grant in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00), which is hereby accepted (a copy of the award letter is attached hereto and made a part hereof).
4. The Mayor of the City of Newark, and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, is hereby authorized to enter into and expend the grant award in the amount of $2,500.00, and to receive and expend the grant award from Sustainable Jersey for the period commencing on April 14, 2025 to April 31, 2026.
5. The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant from April 14, 2025 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
6. No municipal funds are required for application or acceptance of this grant award.
7. The Business Administrator shall file a fully executed copy of the grant application, and grant agreement in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark, and/or his designee, the Business Administrator, to apply for and accept grant funds in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,500.00), for the Sustainable Jersey-PSE&G Residential Energy Efficiency Outreach Campaign Program, which was created to assist municipalities in encouraging their residents to utilize residential energy efficiency incentives to help them save money and improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes or apartments, for the period commencing on April 14, 2025 through April 31, 2026. No Municipal funds are required for application or acceptance of this award.
