WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution7R7-a , adopted on June 7, 2023, the City of Newark (the “City”) executed and entered into an agreement with the Essex County Youth Services Commission (the “County”) of New Jersey, having an address at 50 South Clinton Street, 3rd Floor, East Orange, New Jersey 07017, for a grant award in the amount of Seventy-Two Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty-Eight Dollars and Zero Cents ($72,868.00), to provide an array of services for the City’s funding of the Truancy Alternative Program (TAP),which provides family strengthening social services that empowers the parent/guardian’s parenting skills and motivates at-risk youth to curb truant behavior r; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Essex County Youth Services Commission amended the award letter, increasing the grant amount by an additional $14,573.00, for a total amended amount of Eighty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($87,441.00); and
WHEREAS, the City, desires to accept the amended grant award in the amount of Eighty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($87,441.00) from the County to continue to provide services through TAP for the period commencing on January 1, 2023 and terminating on December 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, to accept the amended grant award, the City must execute a First Amendment Grant Agreement (attached hereto) with the County to accept the in order to obtain the additional $14,573.00, for a total amended grant award of of Eighty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($87,441.00), with no City funds required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Chief Judge of the Newark Municipal Court, are hereby authorized to enter into and execute the First amendment to the Grant Agreement with the Essex County Youth Services Commission of New Jersey, 50 South Clinton Street, 3rd Floor, East Orange, New Jersey 07017, for the grant award in the amount of Eighty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($87,441.00), for the City’s funding of the Truancy Alternative Program (TAP), to provide an array of services to assist the needs and rehabilitate detained youths from their involvement in criminal activities and from a life of crime.
2. The grant award in the amount of Eighty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Zero Cents ($87,441.00) from Essex County Youth Services Commission of New Jersey is hereby accepted.
3. No Municipal funds are required to match the grant proceeds.
4. All other terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement remain the same.
5. The Chief Judge of the Newark Municipal Court shall file a fully executed copy of the First Amendment to the Grant Agreement between the City of Newark and Essex County Youth Services Commission of New Jersey in the Office of the City Clerk.
6. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This Resolution authorizes the Chief Judge of the Newark Municipal Court to enter into and execute a First Amendment to the Grant Agreement with the Essex County Youth Services Commission of New Jersey, 50 South Clinton Street, 3rd Floor, East Orange New Jersey 07017, to increase the grant award amount by an additional $14,573.00, for a total amount of $87,441.00, to provide an array of services to assist the needs and rehabilitate detained youths from their involvement in criminal activities and from a life of crime, for the Truancy Alternative Program (TAP).
