Requesting that the special event application permit fees and street closure fees be waived in the amount of $300.00 for The Clinton Hill Community Action Farmers Market, to be held once a month on the following Saturdays: June 7th, July 26th, August 16th, September 27th and October 25th, 2025, at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue between Reeves Place and Clinton Place, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Whereas, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide an essential service to the residents of Newark while establishing an all-season Farmers Market that will bridge the gap in local produce and availability and access to affordable nutritious food and encourage community involvement in the food economy; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Clinton Hill Community Action Farmers’ Market will provide the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, while also providing vital services to individuals and family groups; and

 

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of Clinton Hill Community Action Farmers Market, to be held once a month on the following Saturdays: June 7th, July 26th, August 16th, September 27th and October 25th, 2025, at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue between Reeves Place and Clinton Place, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Clinton Hill Community Action Farmers Market, to be held once a month on the following Saturdays: June 7th, July 26th, August 16th, September 27th and October 25th, 2025, at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue between Reeves Place and Clinton Place, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application and Street Closure Fees I the amount of Three Hundred Dollars and zero cents ($300.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

 

 

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Newark Municipal Council for the Clinton Hill Community Action Farmers Market Event, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application and Street Closure Fees in the amount of $300.00, for an event to be held once a month on the following Saturdays: June 7th, July 26th, August 16th, September 27th and October 25th, 2025, at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue between Reeves Place and Clinton Place, from the hours of 11:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
