                     WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of $5,209,369.00 for the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult, Youth and Dislocated Worker Program and no provision has been made in the 2021 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A: 4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and

 

                     WHEREAS, by award letters, dated June 3, 2021 from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the City of Newark has been awarded $5,209,369.00 to provide assistance in job placement and to train Adults, Dislocated Workers and Youth Clients through the Workforce Investment Fund; and

 

                     WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A: 4-20 provides that the Governing Body, by a two-thirds vote, may make temporary emergency appropriations for any purpose for which appropriations may lawfully be made for the period between the beginning of the current fiscal year and the date of the adoption of the budget for said year; and

 

                     WHEREAS, emergency appropriation adopted in 2021 pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 including this resolution total…………………$341,744,368.36.

 

                                          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY,THAT:

 

1.                     The Governing Body by a two-thirds vote of its full membership hereby amends its temporary budget by making the following temporary emergency appropriation.

 

2.                     A temporary emergency appropriation be and the same is hereby made for the following classification.

STATEMENT

 

                     This Resolution establishes the revenue and temporary emergency appropriation for the 2021 City of Newark’s Budget for the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult, Youth and Dislocated Worker's Program in the amount of $5,209,369.00. The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development are awarding the funds. The project period is July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 (Citywide)
