The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees ($550.00) for street closure and street festival will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, The Halsey Street Festival and Brownmill Anniversary Block Party provides the residents of the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups, organizations, brick and mortar businesses, families and friends; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support The Halsey Street Festival and Brownmill Anniversary Block Party to be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and New Street (Central Ward), on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of The Halsey Street Festival and Brownmill Anniversary Block Party to be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and New Street (Central Ward), on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees of Five Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($550.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of The Halsey Street Festival and Brownmill Anniversary Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees of ($550.00), for an event to be held on Halsey Street between Central Avenue and New Street (Central Ward), on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council President, LaMonica R. McIver.
