The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fees ($800.00) for application, permit and street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Jazz in the Street is one of the favorite community engagement events, that provides a jazz band from NJPAC performing for 400 invited residents that will share with their neighbors, a dinner that Clinton Hill Community Action will provide; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Jazz in the Street Festival will be held at 450 Clinton Avenue, on the open Green Space (South Ward), Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Jazz in the Street Festival will be held at 450 Clinton Avenue, on the open Green Space (South Ward), Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application ($800.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Jazz in the Street community engagement, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($800.00), for an event to be held at 450 Clinton Avenue, Green open space (South Ward), on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council Member Patrick O. Council, South Ward.
