WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the IGBO Catholic Community Barbeque Block Party provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups, organizations, families, friends and residents to enjoy a festive day of food, drink, dancing and music; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the, IGBO Catholic Community Barbeque Block Party to be held on South 12th and South 13th Streets between 16th and 18th Avenues (Central Ward), Saturday, July 29, 2023 (Rain Date: August 5, 2023), from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the IGBO Catholic Community Barbeque Block Party to be held on South 12th and South 13th Streets between 16th and 18th Avenues (Central Ward), on Saturday, July 29, 2023 (Rain Date: Saturday, August 5, 2023), from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the IGBO Catholic Community Barbeque Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), for an event to be held on South 12th and South 13th Streets between 16th and 18th Avenues (Central Ward), on Saturday, July 29, 2023 (Rain Date: Saturday, August 5, 2023), from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M., co-sponsored by Council President, Member LaMonica R. McIver.
