WHEREAS, on August 21, 2013, the City of Newark through resolution 7R-s(s) authorized the Deputy Mayor/Director of the Department of Economic & Housing Development to enter into and execute a Grant Agreement on behalf of the City with the Greater Newark Conservancy, Inc., 32 Prince Street, Newark, New Jersey 07103 ; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement was to fund the Greater Newark Conservancy, Inc. for administering and overseeing a project to clean and green twenty (20) City-owned properties (as identified by the Greater Newark Conservancy, Inc. and approved by the City) and to convert them into community gardens (the “Central Ward Gardens Project”); and
WHEREAS, the funding for the Central Ward Gardening Project was to come from the Settlement proceeds for the Neighborhood Program for the Central Ward; and.
WHEREAS, the funding for this project included the total allocation of settlement proceeds; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council wishes to rescind resolution 7R3-s(s).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Resolution 7R3-s(s) is hereby rescinded in its entirety.
The Greater Newark Conservancy, Inc. is hereby instructed to terminate any and all activity associated with the Central Ward Gardening Project.
The Greater Newark Conservancy, Inc. is further instructed to provide the City of Newark with an accounting for all work completed for the Central Ward Gardening Project. Such an accounting must include an itemized list of the work, the name of the vendors and the cost.
STATEMENT
This resolution rescinds resolution 7R3-s(s) 08/21/14 to fund, administer and oversee the Central Ward Gardens Project.
