The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Edwin Place Block Party provides the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups, organizations, families, friends and residents to enjoy a festive day of food, drink, dancing and music; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Edwin Place Block Party, to be held on Edwin Place between Willoughby Street and Dewey Street, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 16, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 7:30 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Edwin Place Block Party, to be held on Edwin Place between Willoughby Street and Dewey Street, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 16, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 7:30 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Edwin Place Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), for an event to be held on Edwin Place between Willoughby Street and Dewey Street, on Saturday, September 9, 2023 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 16, 2023), from 11:00 A.M. until 7:30 P.M, co-sponsored by Council Member, Patrick O. Council.
