WHEREAS, on November 7, 2015, Carlos M. Gonzalez, Council Member At-Large was involved in a serious motorcycle accident; and
WHEREAS, on December 1, 2015, Council Member At-Large, Carlos M. Gonzalez caused a memorandum to be delivered to the City Clerk and the Municipal Council President, advising that he was currently at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation undergoing intensive weight supported training therapy; and
WHEREAS, on December 2, 2015, at the Regular Municipal Council Meeting, the memorandum was made part of the public record by Council President, Mildred C. Crump; and
WHEREAS, in compliance with N.J.S.A. 40A:16-3g, Carlos M. Gonzalez, Council Member At-Large has provided the governing body with proper notification within the timeframe permitted of his inability to attend and participate in any meetings and/or events of the governing body, as a result of his accident and continued rehabilitation, which constitutes a legitimate illness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Governing Body by a majority of its members, hereby excuses Council Member At-Large, Carlos M. Gonzalez from attending and participating in any meetings and/or events of the governing body due to legitimate illness pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:16-3g, from November 7, 2015 until the end of his convalescence and rehabilitation.
