WHEREAS, Reverend Ronald B. Christian having fallen from the Grace of God was able to turn his life around and become a minister of the people often overlooked by others; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Christian while doing volunteer work at Clearview Baptist Church in Newark, started down a path to follow in the footsteps of his father a retired minister; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Christian assumed the leadership of the financially challenged Christian Love Baptist Church in 2002; and

 

WHEREAS, Reverend Christian through his ministry was able to grow the Christian Love Baptist Church from a few dozen members to a body of 6000 members; and

 

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark wishes to honor the memory of Reverend Christian through a ceremonial street dedication at a location to be selected by the Family of this great Pastor.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, IN THE COUNTY OF ESSEX, NEW JERSEY, AS FOLLOWS:

 

The Council invites the family of Reverend Ronald B. Christian to identify a street location for a ceremonial street dedication in the name of Reverend Christian.

 

Upon identification of the location by the family the Newark City Clerk is instructed to prepare a street dedication resolution for the site.

 

The City Clerk is further instructed to work with the family to plan and conduct a dedication ceremony.

 

STATEMENT

 

This resolution invites the family of the late Reverend Ronald B. Christian to identify a street location in the City of Newark for a ceremonial street dedication in the honor of Reverend Christian.
