WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Faith Evans, who was born in Florida but raised in Newark, New Jersey, is a multi-platinum Grammy Award winning recording artists, songwriter, arranger, record producer, New York times best-selling author and Televison executive producer, is a proud product of the Newark School System graduating from University High School in 1991; and

WHEREAS, the multi-talented artist, relocated to Los Angeles in 1991 and quickly found success as a background vocalist with several notable R&B artists before signing with Sean Combs' Bad Boy Records, becoming the labels first female artist; and

WHEREAS, Faith Evans went on to achieve musical acclaim performing with Sean Combs and won Best Rap Performance at the 40th Annual Grammy Award with the single "I'll be Missing You" which became the first hip hop song to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100; and

WHEREAS, during her highly successful musical career, which she collaborated with numerous artists spanning over three decades, she recorded over 9 albums and sold over 20 million records; an
