WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has proposed a Limited Scope Resurfacing Project at Route 27, Dehart Place to Route 21 (MP 33.39 to 38.53) with the purpose to rehabilitate the pavement surface and provide ADA compliance at curb ramps and signalized intersections; and

WHEREAS, the major items of proposed improvements are summarized as follows:

* Rehabilitate the pavement surface on Route 27, Dehart Place to Route 21; and

* Fully replace two (2) signals, Route 27 and Victoria Street and Route 27 and Empire/Route 22; and

* Partially replace nine (9) signals:

Route 27 & Virginia Street
Route 27 & McClellan Street
Route 27 & Evergreen Avenue
Route 27 & Center Terrace
Route 27 & Van Duyne Street
Route 27 & Meeker Avenue
Route 27 & Peddie Street
Route 27 & Concord Street
Route 27 & Poinier Street; and

* Perform a minimum (ADA retro-fit) to one (1) signal, Route 27 and Haynes Avenue; and

* Update all curb ramps to current ADA standards; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering will be an active participant in reviewing the design and specifications to ensure that intersection proposed improvements correspond with the City's requirements and needs; and

WHEREAS, a comprehensive construction detour, for vehicles, buses and trucks, will be implemented to minimize the traffic back up and congestion during the months of construction of the project which is approximately scheduled to start on or about Spring 2022; and
