WHEREAS, in an effort to enhance our local intermodal system, expand travel choice, strengthen our local economy, improve our quality of life and protect the environment, the City of Newark Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, is seeking a Resolution of Support to submit an application to receive funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP); and
WHEREAS, NJDOT's Transportation Alternatives Program provides federal funds for community based "non-traditional" surface transportation projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation's intermodal system; and
