WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council previously formed an Investigative Committee to examine the functions, practices and operations of the Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation (NWCDC) and the City of Newark Water and Sewer Utilities Department
WHEREAS, in view of the lack of cooperation by representatives of the NWCDC and actions which have delayed and frustrated the purposes of the creation the investigative committee, and based on the specific recommendations of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, who has recommended that the investigative committee be dissolved; and further recommended that the matter of the functions, practices and operations of the NWCDC be referred to the Office of the Attorney General of New Jersey by the Municipal Council for review; and further recommended that a new Municipal Council Committee be formed to analyze, examine and review the functions of NWCDC and the City’s Water and Sewer Department
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council Investigative Committee previously created by the
Municipal Council to investigate, and examine the functions, practices and operations of the NWCDC is hereby dissolved.
2. The matter of the functions, practices and operations of the NWCDC is
hereby referred by the Municipal Council to the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey for review.
