WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") provides grant funding for infrastructure improvements for traditional and non-traditional transportation initiatives that enable and encourage walking and bicycling to transit through the FY2027 Safe Streets to Transit Program (the, "SST Program"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the "City") desires to obtain funding from the FY2027 SST Program to improve transportation infrastructure within one mile of Davenport Station (the designated limit of improvements paid for by the SST Program); and
WHEREAS, on or about July 1, 2026, the Acting Director of the Department of Engineering has submitted an electronic grant application to NJDOT on the City's behalf requesting grant funding from the FY2027 SST Program in the amount of Two Million Two Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Twenty Dollars and Zero Cents ($2,237,520.00) to improve transportation infrastructure within one mile of Davenport Station, with no ...
