WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in the Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of One Million, Nine Hundred Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($1,918,741.75), for the SuNuP Summer Food Service Program and no adequate provision has been made in the 2026 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and
WHEREAS, by the Notice of letter dated April 17, 2026, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture ("NJDA"), Division of Food and Nutrition ("Division") Summer Food Service awarded the City of Newark funds in the amount of One Million, Nine Hundred Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Forty-One Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($1,918,741.75). The aforementioned program will provide funds for the provision of meal services to children through the City's SuNuP Program and supportive services to the residents of the City of Newark; and
