AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-1, PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ELIMINATING THE PARKING PROHIBITION AT ALL TIMES ON ORIENTAL STREET BETWEEN McCARTER HIGHWAY AND BROADWAY.

WHEREAS, the residents of Oriental Street have submitted a request to North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. to eliminate the No Parking Anytime restriction on Oriental Street between McCarter Highway and Broadway; and
WHEREAS, the North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. submitted a request to the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, requesting that the Department of Engineering consider the removal of the "No Parking" signs on Oriental Street between McCarter Highway and Broadway; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering agrees that the parking restriction should be eliminated in order to create additional on street parking.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited At All Times, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by deleting therefrom the following:
Oriental Street, north side, from Broadway to McCarter Highway
Oriental Street, south side, from Broadway to McCarter Highway
Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
